First Week of Session Update

Dear Friend,
I wanted to update you after having just completed the first week of the 2016 Legislative Session.  On Wednesday, I was officially sworn in as a member of the Virginia State Senate as my family and friends looked on.  That day I was also assigned to serve on four committees in the Senate.  I am now a member of the Senate Committees on Transportation, Education and Health, Local Government and Privileges and Elections.

Each of these committees has jurisdiction over issues that are important to you, my constituents.  On the Transportation Committee, I am excited to work on improving our roads, railways, airports and seaports and finding new ways to address traffic congestion.   On the Education and Health Committee, I am looking forward to providing more education choices for parents and children and finding better ways to deliver health care to our citizens.  On the Local Government Committee, I am pleased that I will be able work with local elected officials to address issues that affect our towns, cities and counties.  Finally, on the Privileges and Elections Committee, I will be able to use my experience working on 23 different campaigns to help improve election law.  This coming week, each of these committees will begin considering legislation.

I thank you for the opportunity to represent Chesterfield County, Amelia County and the City of Colonial Heights in the Virginia State Senate.  If I can be of assistance, please call my Capitol office at (804) 698-7511 or email me at
Warm regards,

Amanda Chase

State Senator
11th District of Virginia
